Reasons Why Alan Rickman is Better Than the Oscars
↳ Seeing Harry for the first timeWithout any words, Alan bring so much life and character to Severus Snape. When I first watched this scene as a young kid, I thought he stared at Harry that way just because he hated him. I also somehow thought he made Harry’s scar hurt. But looking back (and after reading The Prince’s Tale), I realize that with one little movement, a stare, that Severus is really thinking about Lily. He’s thinking about how he has her eyes, and all of the memories that come with it. And then with one tiny turn of the head, he’s looking at Quirrell. He’s realizing that Harry’s scar is hurting because of something around him. Quirrell. Harry thinks it’s Snape who’s making his scar hurt, but because of Snape’s little turn of the head, you can tell it’s not him. And I think the fact that Alan can convey so much with such little movements speaks a lot.
yes … little movements speaks a lot
